Rajya Sabha Speaker Venkaiah Naidu has nominated former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance. Manmohan Singh will replace Congress leader Digvijay Singh. Digvijay Singh has been nominated to the Urban Development Parliamentary Standing Committee.

This information was given in Rajya Sabha Bulletin on Monday. According to sources, Digvijay Singh resigned from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance to include the former PM. Earlier, Manmohan was part of this committee from September 2014 to May 2019. In its last tenure, the committee had raised controversial issues like GST and demonetisation for discussion, in which Manmohan Singh had a very important role.
